Who are we?
Hays High School Project Graduation is not officially affiliated with Hays CISD although they graciously support our efforts to keep kids safe on graduation night. HHSPG is a 501(c)3 organization supported by the people and businesses in the local community. It is only through the kindness and generosity of the greater Buda/Kyle community that we can successfully run HHSPG. The leadership of HHSPG is all volunteer and they are committed to providing a fun, relevant and alcohol/drug free alternative to all graduating seniors.
What is Hays Project Graduation?
It is an all-night, alcohol and drug-free lock-in social event for graduating seniors. On Graduation night, about 730 seniors will graduate from Hays High School. The event will be held following the graduation ceremony. This has been an annual event for the past 22 years and has been made possible only due to the generosity of parents, community members, and our supportive Hays County business community.
Why is Hays Project Graduation so important?
Underage drinking is a national crisis putting lives of millions of Americans at risk as well as the future of many of our youth. Unintentional alcohol related injury is the number one cause of death for 12-20 year olds. One of the most dangerous nights for our youth is graduation night. Imagine the pain and anguish of a serious accident on graduation night due to underage drinking. This milestone should be a time of celebration, reflection and “looking towards the future” for all seniors and their families. Hays Project Graduation has been a very effective way to keep our seniors and community safe on this momentous night. It is in this spirit that we continue the fundraising and planning for this annual event.
